Forgiveness

Proverbs 18:19 says: A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.

I awoke this morning with the distinct impression that I should write a short note to you about forgiveness.

Who do you need to forgive? Is there someone you have a little something against down deep in your heart? Maybe it’s almost unconscious, their presence is just irritating. It’s time to let it go. Whatever it is, it isn’t bigger than the cross of Jesus Christ. He endured torture and a horrible and humiliating death on the executioner’s cross to pay the penalty for whatever offense that person committed against you.

Begin today praying for God’s best for that person. Determine in your heart that from this day forward you will release your hurt and bitterness to them. The Lord knows that it’s hard, but His grace is available and sufficient - trust Him.

Mar 11:22-26 And answering Jesus said to them, Have faith of God. For truly I say to you that whoever shall say to this mountain, Be moved and be cast into the sea, and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that what he said shall occur, he shall have whatever he said. Therefore I say to you, All things, whatever you ask, praying, believe that you shall receive them, and it will be to you. And when you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive it so that also your Father in Heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in Heaven forgive your trespasses.

Don’t allow some past offense that Jesus has already paid for hinder your present walk with the Lord. Let it go! Give it to Jesus…
