One of our Haitian missionaries has a daughter, Susana 5, who is has been diagnosed with cancer and is being treated at Miami Childrens Hosp. Her parents and sister (4) are staying in a hotel (expensive!). We need housing for this family so that they can stay close to the hospital. Her name is Susana Whittaker. Sister Isabela. Parents Maria and Cody. They were in the middle of the earth quake on Jan. 12 and were a huge help to the people near their mission. Now they need help.

Subject: Urgent need for temporary housing for American humanitarian from Haiti: Fulfilled Thank you!

Message: Dear Friends this family did have 3 offers for shelter!!!

There is an American family in Haiti who operates three small non-profit projects there. They have been humanitarians in Haiti for years. One of their children badly injured her knee a few weeks after the earthquake, and the family flew to Miami for medical help for her. Being a humanitarian in Haiti means that you help a lot of people, but you have little money. The Renners are no exception. They have exhausted their funds on doctor bills and tests (MRI, etc.) and hotels. For the past few days, they have been staying in the shed of an acquaintance. Yes, I said “shed” with no running water or bathroom. A small donation has allowed them to move to a Holiday Inn for a few days only, beginning Thurs. night, 2/25.

Their daughter is scheduled to have surgery tomorrow (Thursday, 2/25/10) and will have to stay in Miami for several weeks for recovery. The Renners have three children.

They desperately need a place to stay.

If you or your members know of any place better than a shed that could be donated for a few weeks for this loving, Christian family, please email me or call me at 409-331-9139 (Texas) ASAP. I will contact Luke Renner so he can contact you.

Luke worked tirelessly in Port-au-Prince soon after the earthquake, and his Twitter updates were helpful to the major media. He was the first “on the ground” contact for Ann Curry from The Today Show. He has been interviewed by The Today Show, MSNBC and The Weather Channel.

Thank you so much for anything you can do to help!

Sincerely,
Toni McNulty
