Haiti Relief

EARTHQUAKE DISASTER UPDATE:

February 12, 2010

We are sending another small team down to Haiti this weekend. Pastor Steve, Sam, Denise, Angelina, and Glenda will be in Haiti from Saturday the 13th to Wednesday the 17th. The main purpose is to teach the word of God.  Steve will be teaching at the service on Sunday and also at the tent city throughout the trip, and the girls will be teaching a ladies Bible study at the tent city throughout the week.

In addition, they will provide relief and encouragement for Serge and the orphanage workers. Also, Serge would like to discuss with Steve important decisions that need to be made regarding the church and the orphanage. They will be meeting up with a medical team of 2 doctors and 3 nurses from CC Philly who are flying down to PAP on Saturday and will be staying all next week and working with Serge’s cousin Luke.

The process of evacuating the homeless church members in PAP into the newly created tent city continues.  An additional 20 tents from CC Melbourne were scheduled for arrival to Serge today through the MFI airport.  CC Old Bridge is pledging an additional 20 tents that we hope will arrive by next week.  In addition, CC Delta, PA, has generously provided the transport and partial funding of food for the tent city via their missions organization in Barahona, Dominican Republic.

Already, many Bible studies are happening each day at the tent city.  Please pray for their unity and encouragement.

Please pray for Calvary Christian Family (CCF) orphanage which was affected by the recent earthquake disaster. Pastor Serge, the children, and the orphanage workers were not seriously injured in the earthquake. The orphanage is standing but is damaged. Serge, the children, and the staff are living outdoors. Because of the crisis, food, water and gasoline (which is used to power generators) are becoming extremely expensive. We will continue to post updates on this site as we get them, however communication with Haiti is extremely limited at this time. We fully expect that many other children will be orphaned as a result of the earthquake, and we want to be prepared to take more orphans.

Also, we are coordinating a general relief effort to reach out to the victims of the earthquake. If you would like to contribute financially, please click on the link at the bottom of this page. 100% of the contributions will be used to support the earthquake relief effort and the orphanage.

Update January 19, 2010:

Unfortunately, there has been no word from Pastor Serge since the morning after the earthquake when he reported that the church leadership and everyone in the orphanage was alive, but living outside because the orphanage – although it did not collapse — was damaged. Please, please pray, as conditions are deteriorating significantly in Haiti , with the price of food, water and gasoline sky-rocketing, and looting and crime expected to dramatically increase.

We have received many inquiries on how people can give financially. We are coordinating a general relief effort to reach out to the victims of the earthquake. Through our CCF orphanage web page link below we are receiving donations for the relief effort. 100% of the contributions will be used to support the earthquake relief effort and the orphanage.

Many people have expressed to us that co-workers, friends, neighbors, etc. have asked how they can help. Please feel free to forward this page to anyone you know who may be interested in giving.

Make a contribution to the relief effort in Haiti
